Trauma-informed approach (TIA)
At The Army of Survivors, we believe that every organization should begin to work toward a Trauma-Informed Approach (TIA) in what they do. Trauma-Informed Approaches can help to proactively establish protective factors, especially because trauma is increasingly common in our world. We should work with an understanding that every person we interact with may have experienced serious trauma. We don’t necessarily need to question people about their experiences; rather, we should just assume that they may have this history, and act accordingly.
We have developed some resources that may be helpful in understanding what a Trauma-Informed Approach is, and how to work toward a culture where trauma sensitivity informs the way that organizations interact with stakeholders.
