The Army of Survivors shares our support, care and concern for the many survivors reminded once again of the trauma they experienced from the news of the sudden death by suicide of former U.S. Gymnastics Coach John Geddert soon after being charged by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel with several felonies, including human trafficking and sexual assault.

Our organization was created by a group of more than 40 survivors of sexual violence and some of us were impacted directly by both John Geddert and Larry Nassar, making today’s events a tragic reminder of the reason we created our organization.

This news is not a means to that end, nor is John Geddert’s death a form of justice. Instead, it is a stark reminder that there is so much more to be done to create communities where perpetrators are held accountable, survivors are believed and healthy relationships are the norm.

We extend our deepest concern for all survivors of sexual assault as well as their friends and families. To those survivors who may be struggling today, you are not alone in this journey. You are worthy of justice.

Our organization remains committed to our mission to bring awareness, accountability, and transparency to sexual violence against athletes.

The Army of Survivors’s mission is to bring awareness, accountability, and transparency to sexual violence against athletes at all levels. The 501c3 nonprofit supports sexual assault survivors in sport by changing society through resources, advocacy, and education. For immediate support contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at: 800-656-4673 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at: 800-273-8255.
