MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY RESOURCES FOR SURVIVORS

MADDIE CLEAR | CAMPUS AMBASSADOR AT MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY

With the coronavirus pandemic isolating the world, it can be even more difficult for survivors to gain access to the resources they need. Michigan State University mental health services are working hard to have their help be accessible virtually.

MSU CENTER FOR SURVIVORS

This is a confidential resource that provides individual, group therapy, and advocacy. Individual therapy is currently available through zoom, but therapists will be able to help crisis intervention in person on the second floor of the student services building. MSU Center for Survivors also has a 24/7/365 crisis hotline at (517) 372 – 6666 and a crisis chat from 10am-10pm on their website center for survivors.msu.edu.

GROUP THERAPY

This year, group therapy will be held over zoom and they are open to all survivors, including MSU students, staff, and community members. The classes are called Community Connect and Healing Through Yoga; below are descriptions and how to join them too.

Community Connect is a drop-in support group focused on building community and fostering connections among fellow survivors on Wednesdays from 12-1. Fill out the form below and the zoom link will be emailed to you. Questions? Contact Christie schicht3@msu.edu or Kimmins southa14@msu.edu http://ow.ly/mp3X50Biyej

Healing Through Yoga is a drop-in trauma-sensitive yoga practice to promote healing and wellness. Classes are held on zoom on Thursdays from 1-2PM. To register, email nelsenea@msu.edu.

COMING SOON!

Coming this fall to the MSU Center for Survivors is the addition of the Sexual Assault Healthcare Program, which will be providing free sexual assault medical forensic exams completed by trained sexual assault nurse examners (SANEs). Exams offer medical treatment and evidence collection, 5 days following an assault.

MSU LESBIAN, BISEXUAL, GAY AND TRANSGENDER RESOURCE CENTER
